Blog 5 Working Conditions

After watching these videos it sadden me to now that large companies are taking advantage of women in poorer counties  such as Haiti and Tijuana  to work with such low pay and horrible working conditions.  The fact the worker are only asking for 60 cent in US dollars and aren’t receiving that much is unacceptable, I don’t think it’s fair for big name companies to exploited these people when they make such large profit from the products theses people help produces.  For Diseny to say oh it is ok to pay these people such little amount of money because they standards of living is much less then the US is unbelievable.  Obviously, these people are not making enough money because they cannot afford the minimal things they need, their children are surviving on coffee and sugar water but $2.40 a day is enough money to live off of.  In the US, there are certain work standards that employers have to uphold, I think that even as companies outsource their job they should still want to uphold their company to the same standards, providing their worker with a safe and healthy work environment.  I think that the women in the Maquilaopolis video have the right idea that in order to make a change they have to educate themselves and peers about what is happening.
